MusikGarten curriculum meets GT & the Halo Express
We like to experience drum skins, scarves, hoops, jingles, rhythm sticks, and more. So many textures of sound and touch to explore! We bond with our grownup, hugging and playing with fingers, bouncing and rocking, jumping and twirling, hearing our favorite human's voice. What a delight to hear each unique name sung! And, of course, our brains look for a SURPRISE, like peek-a-boo, The music materials have surprises built in.

We enjoy lots of singing and patterns, chants and rhymes, listening challenges, movement games, and PRETEND PLAY... around themes of late spring and early summer nature.
Parents stay for the entire time, although some focused activities are designed to have the children participate independently of their parents. Children adjust to short intervals of "separate-ness." This prepares them to advance to making music with only their peers when they start Kindergarten.
Required home materials allow the learning and fun to continue at home!

Children may want to demonstrate for their family their new skills: tapping rhythm patterns on percussion, singing tonal patterns, or making ocean / island textures with special instruments. Families, your child may ask you to join them playing melodic instruments like xylophone or metal bells. They may have a favorite game or dance, or a favorite coastal animal. Do they like group choreography, or do they prefer improvising motions from their imagination?
Let's share the new wonders we discover on our Seashore adventure!

Between age 6 and 7, a child usually has a big enough hand to play piano keys (or a standard electronic piano keyboard). And the child has the motor control to touch the piano keys with tiny finger muscles. We will use our fine motor skills to play loud / soft, long / short, and high / low sounds expressively. We will also move our larger muscle groups to show muscal expression in dances and games.
We will sing folk songs, analyze their patterns, and then get our fingers to play those patterns. When our tiny finger muscles can play patterns and our ears & brains can distinguish them, we are ready to learn their notation. Get ready to understand what familiar tones and rhythms look like on a music staff!
| Tuition: | $159 avg |
| Materials: | $35 avg |
| Total: | $195 avg |
Students are ready to create percussion routines and compose short melodic pieces. We review favorite piano songs in a new way, start a "challenge" piece, and play as a band with heightened ability to listen. And everyone wins with Rhythm Bingo, flash cards, and MoveIt classical expression games.
Focus on technique keep our skills sharp and transferable across instruments. We grow more confident to read notation correctly -- but also play it musically -- fast or slow, loud or quiet, smooth & connected, or short & separated. You child will find their unique style!

Each class time offers songs related to a theme children enjoy. Each child's personality is honored as they they interpret the music safely and we copy their style. A multi-age group has a balance of songs for babies, toddlers, and pre-schoolers that meet them where they are developmentally.
Whether a brick-and-mortar child-care establishment or an in-home service, there is a schedule and subscription structure that will give families great value. The MusikGarten curriculum is easy to adapt to each group's custom needs. Each family can purchase a set of materials to use at home, or there can be one set to keep at the venue.
Materials include book and recordings, with optional instrument(s) extra.
| Tuition: | $400 per semester (15 weeks) |

Before cake is served, we work up an appetite with developmentally appropriate explorations. For ages 6-8, a favorite song / style is choreographed so all guests enjoy responding to the music (Example: Teapot Dance). And we improvise! Families can specify instrument and dance preferences in Registration --> Question/Comment.
For ages 4-5 we enjoy games, humor, nature, and pretending in a musical way. Grownups participate in part but also let children be independent in some activities. We use songs, drama, and instruments to explore dinosaur themes or Blippi, Paw Patrol, Elsa, and other characters.
Our baby / toddler grownups sing to us, help us move our bodies, dance with us, and guide us with instruments and Peek-a-Boo! Besides body awareness, we touch drum skins and metals, wooden textures and plastic hoops, and cottony scarves. We feel the delight of bouncing, rocking, trying new muscles on new objects, and hearing our name sung. The music materials keep anticipation sizzling!
Favorite books and stories add to our musical expression. What topic is currently lighting up your child's eyes and energizing their body?
Example: Solar System by Jill McDonald

The desire to make music with others is alive in all of us. We sing and dance and drum together to naturally bridge to our playing skills. We have a full-sized analog piano to gather around, as well as an electronic piano keyboard for each student. Not only will you come away being more musical (even before we read any notation), but students report they are more personally fulfilled because our group
* stimulates them socially and intellectually
* gives them opportunities for self-expression and creativity
* reduces their stress with the fun of our movement activities, almost like exercise
You may have always wanted to learn piano and regret not getting started, or you may have taken individual lessons but not continued. Adult Group Piano is a supportive community in a relaxed environment that may be the perfect match for you! The MusikGarten curriculum is Recreational Music Making, which in Latin means "restoring to health" (recreatio). Participation requires no prior musical training but will enhance you life -- both playing for yourself and uniting with others.
Materials include book, notation game cards, and listening CD with digital code.
